Amsterdamn, you are always good for a laugh. 20 minutes is the longest gap I've heard in a while. Of course, there was a story on the news about one twin that was delivered a month ahead of the other. How interesting is that? The baby was taken early because of complications. Amazing how medical technology has advanced.

What's funny is your comment reminded me of another truth about twins. Often both have a story they use to explain why one was born first/second, etc. My sister's story is that she needed to get away from my constant talking. My story is I kicked her out to have some room to myself for a bit.

Amy, I rolled breech too. In fact, my sister would brag for a time that she saved my life because she made more room for my posterior to come through. Sorry Jen, though I believe you are one smart cookie, I have a hard time accepting at a gestational age of 8 1/2 months you had the foresight to actively save my life. I'm excusing myself from any "forever in your gratitude" expectations.

I can't help but laugh at the Blue Bonnet story. I sure hope Sean doesn't try something like that. Somehow that kind of thing loses its humor when it happens to you.

I find your 'flip flop' comment so amusing, we used to use the same phrase when describing the girls. Their behaviours would 'flip flop'!

My girls are 9 minutes apart and I still get the 'who is older' comment some 9 years later. The funny thing is is that twin A was twin A (assumed to be the first out) until she pushed Twin B down and decided to go breech, (longest 9 minutes of my life getting her righted.)

Thanks for this post :) So very interesting to hear the stories of twins growing up and can so relate it to my two. My girls are the best of friends (and can be the worst of friends!) but are so close and in tune it sometimes scares me. I do envy them, having someone the same age going through the same experiences every day.

As for the gift giving stuff I feel less guilt! Too true, with their very similar interests they do benefit from the shared gifts element. They get a few 'major' gifts instead of one and I do try to accomodate their individual requests. Usually the same at this stage of things.

I find twinhood fascinating. Thanks for this post.

Although Rotterdamn and I are identical, we were born 20 minutes apart.
They did not realize that I was in there.
I was happy to stay in the womb, too, when I heard him crying.
("They're beating him already!!! What did he do?")

I can relate to all these experiences! Only Karen and I were one minute apart. My own twins are one minute apart.

Amsterdamn is an identical twin... whereas most of us are fraternal. I think Amy's two are IDs.
